The Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mr. Sunil Kumara Gamage, issued Extraordinary Gazette No. 2486/16 today, 29.04.2026, by virtue of the powers vested in him under Sections 32 and 33 of the Sports Law No. 25 of 1973 (as amended).
Accordingly, the registration of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Committee has been temporarily suspended. This action has been taken as an interim measure under the amended Sports Law, following the situation created by the resignation of the President and the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket.
Recognizing the vital importance of cricket in enhancing Sri Lanka’s international reputation and acknowledging the timely need to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, equality, and accountability in the governance and administration of the sport, Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage has appointed the SRI LANKA CRICKET TRANSFORMATION COMMITTEE. This committee is tasked with driving a transformation within Sri Lankan cricket for the best interests of the sport and all its stakeholders.

Through this Extraordinary Gazette, Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage has empowered the aforementioned Committee to carry out and manage all functions of Sri Lanka Cricket until such time an Annual General Meeting (AGM) is convened to elect new office bearers.
